On most Polaris RANGER vehicles, the battery is located under the seat. Accessing the battery requires removing the seat. Seat removal instructions can be found in your Owner’s Manual.
On RANGER CREW models, the battery can be found under the rear seat.
On RANGER XP 900, RANGER 1000 and RANGER XP 1000 models, the battery is accessed by removing the right rear-most passenger seat, as shown below, and removing the storage bin.
On model year 2016 and 2017 RANGER 570 Full-Size models, the battery is under the driver’s seat.
Not all RANGER vehicles have the battery located under the seat. Some RANGER models feature a battery located under the hood. That includes Series 99 and all RANGER vehicles from model 2005 to 2009. The battery also is under the hood on RANGER 6x6, RANGER 800 and RANGER CREW 800 vehicles from 2010 to 2013. RANGER Diesel models from 2015 to 2018 also feature a battery under the hood.
On Series 11 RANGER vehicles, the battery is located under the left rear fender.
On RANGER HIPPO models, the battery is located under the HIPPO unit, as shown below.
Note that improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can result in an explosion and cause serious injury or death. When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (black) cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the negative (black) cable last.
Also note that some model year 2021 and newer RANGER models feature a dedicated outlet for trickle-charging the battery during periods of extended inactivity. This outlet can be found on the dash.
